GM, Chevy, GMC 2.7L Engine Notice

General Motors introduced a new 2.7L Gas Engine for Chevrolet and GMC 1500 trucks in 2019. Since then, it has been branded the 2.7L Turbo engine, then the 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine, and most recently the TurboMax engine. It is now the standard engine in the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 series pick-up trucks.

These engines have Active Thermal Management Cooling systems that control coolant temperature and flow with an Engine Control Module (ECM). As a result, there is no coolant flow available for our Bowie mobile clinics to tap into to provide heat for the water system and day heater. You will not be able to get coolant flow to your Bowie unit, and there will be no hot water or heat in the unit, if installed in a 2019 or newer Chevrolet or GMC 1500 series truck with the 2.7L Engine.

Bowie is evaluating solutions using electricity, rather than coolant, to provide heat for the water system and day heater. We will provide updates as the situation progresses.
